The solution integrates 128 nxCPUs and more than 160 programmable processing engines to provide unprecedented performance for next-generation 3G/4G mobile wireless infrastructure, enterprise, storage, security, metro Ethernet, edge and core infrastructure network applications 160Gb per second throughput and 240 million packets per second (240 Mpps) smart application performance.

This new XLP8128S multi-core processor solution integrates the breakthrough XLP processor architecture to deliver unmatched processing performance and scalability to 128 nxCPUs, each running at up to 2.0 GHz, and is based on the best-in-class Good superscalar engine and out-of-order execution capabilities that merge data plane and control plane processing. The 128 nxCPUs provide full cache and memory coherency to the high-speed Inter-Chip Coherency Interface (ICI), allowing software applications to run seamlessly on symmetric multiprocessing (SMP) or asymmetric multiprocessing (AMP) mode. The unique combination of superior processor cores and scalability from 1 to 128 nxCPUs can deliver over 240 Mp/s of intelligent application processing performance, making it the ideal choice for the industry’s Layer 4-7 intelligent networking, The highest performance multi-core communications processor for service and application processing.

The XLP8128S multi-core solution provides a three-tier cache architecture with more than 50 Mbytes of fully coherent on-chip cache, providing extremely high-speed on-board memory bandwidth of 40 Tb/s. In addition, the XLP8128S solution includes 16 72-bit DDR3 interconnect channels, resulting in more than 1600 Gb/s of total off-chip memory bandwidth, which is four times the DRAM bandwidth of recently announced competing solutions. The combination of 128 nxCPUs with quad-issue and superior memory subsystem architecture makes this device ideal for data plane applications, which are inherently sensitive to memory latency, and control plane applications, which require best-in-class processing performance.
