The four areas of data center automation that will be most impacted by robotics over the next five years are:

2. Monitoring: Robotic sensor probes provide more granular server rack temperature data without the need to install any intrusive physical hardware. Remote monitoring robots can also detect any anomalies by collecting other data such as sounds and images.

Robots are able to provide a layer of physical security through a range of different functions, including detection of human temperature through thermal sensors or license plate recognition in parking lots.

4. Artificial intelligence/machine learning in cloud operations: Modern artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies can cooperate with robots to monitor and manage IT processes in data centers.
