Infineon’s new XENSIV TLI4971 product is a non-magnetic core open-loop current sensor for accurate and stable current measurement in industrial applications. The sensor has a measurement range of ±25A to ±120A, and provides great design flexibility through individually programmable parameters (such as current range, overcurrent threshold, and output mode). The XENSIV TLI4971 sensor uses a differential measurement principle to suppress the interference field from the surrounding environment. In addition, Infineon’s market-proven technology compensates for temperature fluctuations and mechanical stress. Therefore, the measurement sensitivity error at room temperature is as low as 2%, which can be reduced even lower through single-point calibration in the system. The measurement result can be provided as an analog output voltage.

In order to quickly detect overcurrent with low latency, the sensor contains two digital outputs (OCD1 and OCD2). When the value exceeds the individually programmed over-current threshold, the signal can be used for warning or system shutdown. In addition, this sensor can reliably identify and report over-voltage or under-voltage conditions.

With a special current rail layout, the TLI4971 sensor provides excellent thermal performance for currents up to 120A, and integrates galvanic isolation for voltages up to 1.1kV. With high-performance data and 120kHz bandwidth, this compact sensor in an 8x8x1mm leadless TISON-8 package is suitable for various applications, including 50kW electric drives, inverters, robots, chargers, battery management systems, smart metering, and power tools And white goods.
